3. Our Journey

Architect Ndarua & Associates

In July 1990, driven by a desire to do more, he founded Architect Ndarua & Associates Ltd (ANA Ltd) — a practice built on the belief that great design should be thoughtful and functional.

Dr. Ndarua's vision extended far beyond architecture. He was a passionate advocate for education, particularly for the girl child. In 1992, he founded St. Lucie Kiriri Girls Secondary School .It was among the pioneer private schools in Kenya and offers both 8-4-4 and IGCSE (The International General Certificate of Secondary Education). Some of its popular alumni include: Sanaipei Tande, 2015 Miss Kenya Runner Up Wendy Mueni and Mindi Sarro.

The enterprising businessman recognised the gender disparities affecting women pursuing technology and science-related courses, particularly at the tertiary level. This observation drove him to create an environment where women could come together and receive a holistic education. A decade later, in 2002, he founded Kiriri Women's University of Science and Technology, the first women-only university in East Africa, which was awarded its full University Charter in 2022 by H.E. President Uhuru Kenyatta. Today, with a population of over 1,500, the University offers diploma and bachelor's courses in fields including Mathematics, Computer Science, Psychology and Business Administration.

Today, ANA Ltd carries forward his extraordinary legacy — partnering with private and public sector clients across Kenya and the region, delivering inspired design from concept to completion.
